The Union City Family Support Center recently coordinated their first Family Group Decision Making Conference.  With this being Neil Wolfgang’s first conference, the expectations were not set too high.  The purpose was to ensure the safety of children in the home.  What resulted was a community plan that brought a neighborhood together.  When Neil met with family for the first time, he met with a family that felt they had no resources and a bunch of neighbors that just wanted them out.  In the process of coordinating the conference, Neil was able to identify positive resources for the family and to bring the neighbors to the table to be positive and supportive.  The conference was a success because it helped resolve concerns in the home, but also brought together a neighborhood to care for and ensure the safety of the children and animals that live there.  Our hope is that the rest of the conferences and services we provide are as influential in caring for children and making a difference in our community.
